Unmapping a Virtual Volume

Follow these steps to unmap a virtual volume:

  1.  From the SAN Mappings tab in SANmanager, select the application server and channel in the bottom left pane.

  2. From the bottom right pane, select the mapping you wish to delete and choose Unmap from the context menu.  A warning message appears, asking if you are sure you wish to unmap the virtual volume.

  3. Select Yes to unmap the virtual volume.

  4. Choose Apply from the File menu.

  1. Click OK. You may get a message that a disk has been removed.

  2.  Restart the application server to remove this offline disk from being seen by Disk Management.

You can also unmap a volume from the Domains and Groups tab.

If you delete a mapping that was assigned LUN 0, you may not be able to access other volumes on the application server that are mapped with LUNs greater than 7 for this channel. To correct this issue, you must reassign another mapping to LUN 0. To do this, select another virtual volume that is mapped to the same application server over the same channel and change the LUN in the Mapping Properties dialog box. Restart your application server for this new assignment to take place.
