Replacing a Storage Server
If the failure of a major component on your storage server warrants replacement of the server, follow these guidelines:
-
Strive to replicate the storage hardware configuration (fibre channel HBAs, SCSI HBAs, disk drive, etc.) from the failed server to the replacement system.
-
Move all fibre channel HBAs, SCSI adapters, and hard drives to the replacement system.
-
Install the operating system on the replacement server.
-
Install all DataCore software using the same license, WWN, region, and machine name that was used on the failed server.
-
Foreign pools may need to be imported.
-
HBA and other custom settings will need to be re-set.
-
Modify the Domain Communication Service so the storage server can communicate with other servers.
-
Add the storage server back to the region.
