Identifying and Configuring Channels

Using SANsymphony software, all storage servers in the SAN region and the channels associated with each of them are automatically discovered.  In order to discover this information, storage servers must have SANsymphony software installed and both storage and application servers must be running and accessible over the network and be members of the same region.

The SANmanager Channels tab provides channel information and configuration for storage servers and application servers in the region. Discovered channels are identified by providing each channel with an alias— an alternate name for an entity that is easy to identify. The channel alias is a simplified name used instead of World Wide Names (WWNs) for Fibre Channel and iSCSI node names (iqn). Refer to Channels Tab for more information.

Refer to Fibre-Channel Manager for assistance in configuring, diagnosing, monitoring, and troubleshooting the Fibre Channel ports in the configuration. Refer to iSCSI Manager for assistance in configuring and troubleshooting iSCSI ports on storage servers.
