Changing Attributes of a Mirror

There are mirror attributes that can be defined or changed to provide high availability as well as fault tolerance.

Mirror Path Type

In order to provide Alternate Pathing, MPIO, or Cluster Path capabilities when your application servers are running this software, you have to specify the mirror path type. The path type is set in the same manner for any high availability option, refer to Virtual Volume Properties for instructions.

In order to remove previously set multipathing (AP, MPIO, CP) capabilities, set the mirror path type to Standard in the Virtual Volume Properties dialog box.  The virtual volume must be unmapped . Refer to Unmapping a Virtual Volume.

Setting Mirror Recovery Priority

The recovery of mirrored virtual volumes can be set to allow virtual volumes containing more important information to recover before virtual volumes containing information of lower importance. By setting the Mirror Recovery Priority, mirrors are assigned priorities, in which those of higher priority are given available resources before those of lower priority. If you do not change the default or if you set the same default for multiple virtual volumes,  resources will be balanced among all of those virtual volumes. Refer to Setting Mirror Recovery Priority for more information.

Write-Through Mode

Under certain circumstances, you may want to ensure that the data you write to the application server is on the physical disk before the write is acknowledged. By enabling this mode, writes to the virtual volume are written to oxide before the write is acknowledged. Refer to Write Through Mode for more information.

Replace Volume on Failure

You can flag volumes within a virtual volume for replacement by a hot spare in the event of a volume failure. Refer to Virtual Volume Properties for more information.
