Navigating the SANcentral Interface

The SANcentralâ„¢ interface simplifies and centralizes the management of storage area networks (SANs) to enable control of all SANsymphony SAN resources. The SANcentral interface contains the tools SANsymphony software uses for management and monitoring of active storage servers.  Performance data is acquired using the Windows Performance Monitor tool and information and error messages post to the Event Viewer.

The first time you use the SANsymphony software after installing, you are required to follow the procedures under Starting SANsymphony for the First Time. Subsequently, the SANcentral interface automatically starts upon restart. Access the SANcentral interface from Start>Programs>DataCore Software>SANcentral.

The SANcentral interface consists of the Menu bar, Tool bar, and three tabs.

How the Tab Panes Work…

The tabs consist of left and right panes. In the left pane is an expandable tree comprised of different elements. When you select an element in the tree, you will be provided with associated information in the right pane. The information displayed in the right pane will change depending on the active element selection in the left pane. Information displayed in the right pane is organized in columns with descriptive headers. Be sure to move the bottom scroll bar to the right to view columns which may be hidden from the initial view.

How the Tab Context Menus Work…

Numerous context menus are provided in the tabs. Primarily, context menus are provided by selecting elements in the tree in the left pane and clicking the right (or secondary) mouse button. Context menus may also be provided by selecting certain elements in the right pane. Menu items available are associated with the element selected. The same context menu items may also be provided from the menu bar.
