Adding/Configuring Hubs, Switches, Routers

You can add an element to the Inventory tab to keep track of your hardware. The steps are the same for a hub, switch or router. You may configure a maximum of 32 hubs, switches, and routers.

  1. In the Inventory tab, from the Edit menu, choose the appropriate action: Add Hub, Add Switch, or Add Router.

  1. In the Name box, type the name of the element.

  2. In the I.P. box, type the IP address for this element.

  3. In the SNMP String box, the default is Public. Unless you have a particular reason for changing this, do not change the default.

  1. In the Comment box, add notes if desired.

  2. If you have a bitmap image of your component, in the Bitmap box, type in the file location or click the Browse button to locate the file to use. If you do not provide the file name of a bitmap image, a default image will be assigned to the component.

  3. Click OK. The element now appears in the Network Elements folder in the left pane of the Inventory tab.

Refer to Adding Links to add links to external programs that manage the fibre channel hubs, switches, and routers.

Changing Hub, Switch, or Router Properties

Select any network element in the left pane of the Inventory tab, and select Properties to open the dialog box where you can change everything except the name, and also add a link to external programs.
