Storage Capacity License Limits
The amount of SANsymphony-managed storage allowed per region is governed by the storage server license. To increase the storage capacity for your license, contact your DataCore Sales Representative.
Show License Limit Warning
When the Show License Limit Warning is enabled, a message will appear on the screen when you are nearing the limit for gigabytes of SANsymphony-managed storage as defined in your SANsymphony software license. Even if you reach the license limit, your existing configuration remains intact.
To enable or disable the warning:
-
On the SANmanager Menu bar, click Preferences>Configuration Preferences to access the dialog box.
-
Select or clear the Show license limit warnings check box.
-
Click OK.
If you received the Storage Warning message, you can clear the check box to turn off the warning display.
Exceeding License Storage Limit
If you add a disk which causes you to exceed your license limit and you do not choose to upgrade your license:
-
In the SANmanager Virtual Volumes tab, choose Release All Volumes from the Edit menu. This causes the storage server to release control of unused volumes (unmapped and not used in virtual volumes), volumes marked “previously used,” or hot spares. All alias names will be lost. All volumes that have been released will appear with a red X in the Virtual Volumes tab.
-
Select the released volumes and choose Delete from the context menu. They will disappear from the volume list.
-
In the Managed Volumes tab, remove the disk from the pool, if applicable. The disk will appear in the Raw Disk folder.
-
If desired, you can use the disk locally or remove the storage from the storage server so it will not be rediscovered by the SANsymphony software later.
