Enabling/Disabling Passthrough
In the event that the source buffer becomes unavailable, the AIM State column in AIM Source Manager will display “No Buffer” instead of “Active.” If this happens, by default you will be unable to write I/O from the application server to the source server. If you enable Passthrough, I/O is written directly to the AIM source virtual volumes on the source server and logged in memory on the source server. After the source buffer is corrected and the AIM State column shows “recovering”, logged changes are sent to the destination server. When all logged changes are recovered, the AIM State column reports ‘Active’ and normal AIM data transfers resume.
To enable Passthrough:
-
Open AIM Source Manager.
-
In the left pane, select AIM Source Volumes.
-
In the right pane, select the AIM set, and choose Enable Passthrough from the context menu. The AIM State column will display “ Passthrough.”
To disable Passthrough:
-
Open AIM Source Manager.
-
In the left pane, select AIM Source Volumes.
-
In the right pane, select the AIM set, and choose Disable Passthrough from the context menu. The AIM State column will display “No Buffer.”
