Using a Boot Drive Destination Volume
The procedures for ” AIMing” the boot drive are the same as those to “AIM” any data drive. Follow the instructions in Getting Started with AIM to “AIM” the boot drive to a destination server.
Ways to Use the Boot Image on the Destination Server:
Mirror the Boot Disk and Physically Transport to the Source Site

Use Snapshot on the SANsymphony server to enable a snapshot of the boot image.

Map the snapshot virtual volume back to the local storage server (If necessary, refer to Mapping Virtual Volumes to a Storage Server.)

Using Windows Disk Management, mirror the mapped volume to a local disk equal to the size of the AIM boot volume.

Physically transport the drive to the AIM source location.
Map the Boot Disk and Use FTP to Transport

Use Snapshot on the SANsymphony server to enable a snapshot of the the boot image.

Map the snapshot virtual volume back to the local storage server (If necessary, refer to Mapping Virtual Volumes to a Storage Server.)

Use FTP to transport the files to the AIM source location.
Map the Boot Disk and Back Up Files from the Boot Image

Use Snapshot on the SANsymphony server to enable a snapshot of the boot image.

Map the snapshot virtual volume to a backup server and back up the files you require.
