AIM Configuration Models

Source and Destination servers can be used in a variety of configurations. Designing a configuration before you install AIM (or AIM Client) allows you to specify the correct system type on each machine. Source servers can be single or multiple servers and destination servers can be single or multiple servers. At the same time, data paths can be unidirectional or bidirectional. Any combination of configurations can be used with AIM.

Important: We highly recommend using Snapshot on the destination server to take snapshots of AIM destination virtual volumes as needed without disturbing data transfers in process. Snapshots can be used in the same manner as AIM destination virtual volumes without dismantling the AIM set. Refer to Using Snapshot with AIM.
