This diagram illustrates a unidirectional Multiple Source-to-Single Destination AIM configuration. Storage servers SDS-A and SDS-B are configured as the source servers. Storage server SDS-C is configured as the destination server. On SDS-A, changed data from the source virtual volumes VolA1 and VolA2 is collected in the source buffers and asynchronously mirrored over an IP-based connection to the destination buffers on SDS-C, where it is destaged to the associated destination virtual volumes VolC1 and VolC2 on SDS-C. In the same manner, on SDS-B the changed data from source virtual volumes VolB3 and VolB4 is mirrored to SDS-C  and destaged to destination virtual volumes VolC3 and VolC4.

Note: AIM can also be configured to send data over an IP connection in a bidirectional manner.
