AIM Source Manager

AIM Source Manager is the graphical user interface (GUI) that allows you to configure AIM destination servers and AIM sets. AIM Source Manager is capable of providing information in four different views. Graphics for two of the available views are shown below. For a summary of the information available in all views, refer to Viewing AIM Source Manager Status.

To open the AIM Source Manager Help, select the AIM Source Manager component in the left pane, and select Help from the context menu or click the Help button in the toolbar.

The information listed below is displayed in Source Status View when the AIM Source Volumes component is selected in the left pane.

Column

Description

Src Volume

Name of the virtual volume configured in the AIM tab as the source of the AIM set.

Dest Volume

Name of the virtual volume configured in AIM Source Manager as the destination of the AIM set.

Dest Server

Name of the storage server configured as the destination server for the AIM set.

Group ID

Name of the AIM group configured in the Domains and Groups tab for the AIM set, if applicable.

AIM State

Current state of the AIM set. Refer to AIM States for more information.

Src Data

Amount of data (in MB) stored in the ‘outgoing’ folder for the volume awaiting transfer. Folders are located in the source buffer directory.

Time Latency

Time difference between the earliest remaining AIM Source buffer file creation time and the current time (hh:mm:ss).

Transfer Rate

An instantaneous measurement of the speed (in KB/sec) that data is being transferred currently.

 

Destination Server Information:

The information listed below is displayed in when the AIM Destination Servers component is selected in the left pane.

Column

Description

Destination Server

Name of the storage server configured as the destination server for the AIM set.

IP Address

The IP address of the destination server as configured in AIM Source Manager.

Transfer Mode

Mode used for data transfer; either FTP or SMB. Refer to Data Transfer Modes for more information.

Link Status

The link is Up or Down. (The Link Test option tests the communication link between the source and destination servers.)

 

The commands or functions are listed below. The menu items available on the Action menu depend on which AIM Source Manager component is selected. (These menu items are also available from shortcut menus.) Refer to the associated topics for additional information.

Apply

Applies the configuration changes made in AIM Source Manager.

Settings

Opens the Settings dialog box, used to change configuration settings such as AIM file size, source buffer name and location, source data refresh rate, and destination link test rate. Refer to  AIM Source Manager Settings.

View Source Logfile

Open the AIM Source Log, a log of activity as seen by the source.

New AIM Set

Opens the New AIM Set dialog box, used to match source and destination volumes as sets. Refer to Creating AIM Sets.

View

Provides different views of the information in the right pane of AIM Source Manager. Views include: All View, Configuration View, Source Status View, and Destination Status View.

New Destination

Open the New Destination dialog box, used to enter destination server information and select transfer mode. Refer to Configuring Destination Servers.

Link Test

The Link Test option tests the communication link between the source and destination servers.

Initialize Volume/Stop Initialization

Refer to Initializing the AIM Set.

Enable Passthrough/Disable Passthrough

Refer to Enabling/Disabling Passthrough.

Delete

Deletes the AIM set selected.

Refresh

Refresh the information displayed in the GUI.

Properties

Displays the properties of the AIM set selected. The Properties box can also be used to set some services automatically: sending default markers, flushing source data, and enabling Snapshots.

View Destination Logfile

Open the AIM Destination Log, a log of activity as seen by the destination.

Link Test

Tests the communication link between the source and destination servers.

Transfer Schedule

Sets delays between file transfers during specified times of the day. Refer to Scheduling Transfer Delays.

Delete

Removes the selected server from being designated as a destination server for AIM.

Refresh

Manually refreshes the information in the right pane.

Properties

Opens the Destination Server Properties box, which allows you to choose and configure a data transfer mode. Refer to Data Transfer Modes.
