iSCSI Port Properties – Basic Tab
The iSCSI Manager Basic tab displays basic configuration parameters for the selected target port.
Some fields can be changed:
-
SCSI Mode selections include Target and Default. Default puts the port in the preferred default mode for the NIC.
-
Portal Group Tag is the iSCSI internal number identifying the active session.
-
TCP Port is the number identifying the target port.
-
Max Outstanding Initiator Commands allows you to limit the number of initiator commands active at the same time.
-
Max Outstanding Target Commands allows you to limit the number of target commands active at the same time.
CAUTION: By default, the maximum number of iSCSI initiator connections allowed at any one time to an iSCSI target is 16. For example, if there are more than eight application servers each have two iSCSI connections, the first eight application servers will connect to targets and the others will be refused.
Be aware that there is a fixed limit of 256 Outstanding Target I/Os for all iSCSI targets. For example, using the maximum default of 16 connections, a total of 16 outstanding target I/Os will be the maximum allowed for the iSCSI target. If the default maximum number of initiators is increased, the maximum number of possible outstanding I/Os per storage server target will decrease.
Do not alter settings unless you are aware of the affect the changes could have on performance.
