Trace Console

Trace Console assists in diagnosing and troubleshooting Fibre Channel host bus adapters (HBAs) and iSCSI channels of the storage configuration.  There are two components in the Trace Console: SCSI Ports and Trace Logs. Trace Console is available from the SANsymphony Console, which is accessed from the Tools menu in the SANcentral interface.

To open the Trace Console Help, select the tool snap-in in the console tree and click the Help button ( SANsymphony help Trace Console ). The Help button on the toolbar is context specific. Alternatively, you can select the tool snap-in and choose Help from the shortcut menu.

Below is a view of SCSI Ports in the Trace Console tool with a SCSI port selected in the left pane of the console tree; diagnostic messages are displayed in the right pane. These messages can be used for troubleshooting or verifying that the SAN is working properly. You can delete messages and configure filters for messages from the context menu. Refer to SCSI Ports in Trace Console for more information.

Use Trace Logs to start or stop logging messages and to open the log files.  Access these options from the context menu. Log files (*. etl files) can be found in WindowsSystem32. Refer to Trace Logs for more information.
