Starting SANsymphony Software for the First Time

The first time you use the SANcentral interface after installing SANsymphony software, the virtualization service is stopped and the storage server is in a temporary region which must be changed to a valid region.

Starting SANsymphony software for the first time consists of three procedures; for one storage server at a time, perform each procedure in order:

Procedure

Topic

Description

1

Starting the Domain Communication Service

This service allows all storage servers in the same region to communicate with each other and share configuration information.

2

Changing the Temporary Region Name

All storage servers intended to communicate with each other must belong to the same region.

3

Starting the DataCore Virtualization Service

This service allows SANsymphony software virtualization to start and perform all necessary storage activities.

After completing the procedures, the storage server should be recognized by and able to communicate with other storage servers in the same region, and virtualization services should be running.

After completing these three procedures, return to Installing SANsymphony  and continue installing SANsymphony software on another storage server or finish the instructions.
