Starting the Domain Communication Service

The Domain Communication Service is responsible for distributing the configuration and controlling access to the currently active (in memory) configuration. It also is used for messaging between storage servers.

After installation, the account assigned for the service is currently set to Local System. In order to use the SANsymphony software, the Domain Communication Service must be restarted using an account with administrator privileges that allows the setting of Log On as Service Privilege.

  1. Open the SANcentral interface, if necessary. (The SANcentral GUI can be opened by double-clicking on the DataCore icon SANsymphony dclogo Starting the Domain Communication Service in the system tray, or by selecting Start>All Programs>DataCore Software>SANcentral.)

  2. In the left pane of the SANcentral interface, select the Storage Domain Servers folder under Nodes.

  3. In the right pane, select the appropriate storage server in the Node Name column. You should now see the Domain Communication Service area in the lower-right pane.

  4. In the Domain Communication Service area, click Log on as…
